Don Matthews
Don has more than 25 years experience in real estate and mortgage finance, with nation-wide expertise in loan origination, default management, asset management, consulting and mortgage brokerage.  Don has been responsible for more than $700 million in workout transactions on behalf of lenders, borrowers and investors.
Prior to joining Real Property Solutions, Don was Senior Vice President of Canadian operations for Mezz Cap Canada, a capital markets mezzanine lender.

Before joining Mezz Cap, Don established and was the general manager of the Canadian operations of L.J. Melody (now CBRE Debt Capital Markets).  In this role he placed approximately $350,000,000 in mortgages on behalf of borrower clients, including $109,000,000 for the acquisition of the 5000 Yonge Street property on behalf of a German investment fund.  This transaction was the NAIOP transaction of the year.
Don was Manager of Commercial Mortgage Origination with CIBC Mortgages Inc., responsible for managing the mortgage origination group across Canada, with an annual lending target of over $1 billion per year.

In the five years prior to joining CIBC, Don worked as an independent consultant on behalf of investors, lenders and borrowers with distressed real estate and defaulted mortgage assets.  His major achievement was delivering an IRR of more than 40% to a US institutional investor on a portfolio of defaulted mortgages.

Don has worked across Canada in a variety of increasingly senior roles since starting in the business in 1977.
